Network Presence: October 22-28, 2011

The Network kept up last week’s momentum, appearing in many places in our community this week. We even headed out of state to share our work!  The Network focused on sharing not only what we do, but how we do it, pushing network organizing principles.  Here are some of the places the Network showed up this week:
  • Facilitated the Habitat for Humanity board retreat, discussing housing in the Portland neighborhood
  • Attended a meeting of the inter-agency task force on children who are homeless
  • Presented the keynote address at the “How Can We Best Serve” Conference coordinated by the Bonner Leaders at the University of Louisville
  • Volunteered at the Connect to the Loop event in the Shawnee neighborhood, promoting the Louisville Loop
  • Attended a community conversation with JCPS superintendent Donna Hargens
  • Met with doctoral students at Spalding University to discuss network organizing
  • Welcomed new members in a Network orientation
  • Attended the LME conference in Denver, sponsored by the Annie E Casey Foundation
  • Shared the Network with the Making it Work program at the Louisville Urban League
  • Held an informal conversation for residents of Sheppard Square about the HOPE VI transition
  • Facilitated the last meeting of Goodwill’s Power of Work September class
  • Attended the release of Metropolitan Housing Coalition’s 2011 State of Metropolitan Housing Report
  • Met with students from a JCTC course on human services and community change
